SHS Student Artwork selected for Regional 3-D Art Show

Three pieces of Schenectady High School student artwork were selected to be a part of the Annual Juried Art Exhibition “Art in Three Dimensions" sponsored by the Capital Area Art Supervisors and Mohonasen High School. This year, 18 school districts submitted 242 pieces and 76 pieces were selected overall. The judges were impressed by the large number of very strong artworks produced by area high school students in their art classes. Congratulations to our selected students: Amilliana Rodriguez, Guadalupe Delarosa, and Allura Barrett!

Spirit of Creativity at SHS!
We’re happy to announce the completion of our new Schenectady High School mural, “The Spirit of Creativity.” Taking its place among the amazing murals pursued lately by the Roots Club elsewhere in Schenectady High, “The Spirit of Creativity” represents the ecstasy that comes with the realization of a beautiful idea. With input from our Renaissance Students (students pursuing studies in multiple Fine Arts), professional mural painter, Kevin Clark, painted the two story mural over five days. Kevin connected in-class with both Mrs. Austin’s and Mr. Sarnacki’s Studio in Art classes as they pursue their own public art projects. All the work was done during school hours so students could watch its development and they could observe technique and inquire with Kevin regarding process and pursuing Visual Art professionally.  It’s hoped that “The Spirit of Creativity” will encourage not only more murals but also inspire our Schenectady High School community to pursue positive, creative solutions in all our endeavors.
