Mark Wood to perform with Schenectady students Wed. evening

Mark Wood, an Emmy-winning composer and founding member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, has been working with Schenectady Middle School orchestra students this week.  He will take the stage with approximately 100 students to present the concert, “Electrify Your Strings,” 7 p.m. in the Mont Pleasant Middle School Auditorium.  The concert is free and open to the public.

Wood is a world-renowned performer who writes and records original music for film and television.  He has collaborated and appeared alongside some of the biggest names in music such as Lenny Kravitz, Celine Dion and Kanye West.  He has also performed with Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, Steven Tyler and Roger Daltry.

Wood’s “Electrify Your Strings,” music education program is in its 17 year.  It is an intensive rock and roll workshop that boosts student self-esteem and motivation and helps raise money for music education.  It’s been featured on The Today Show and CBS Evening News.
