Congratulations to Nyasia Cope, a CPMS 8th grader, who along with her aunt wrote and published a bookCongratulations to Nyasia Cope, an 8th grader at Central Park Middle School, who recently wrote and published a book with her aunt Ashley Charleston.  Charleston is a Schenectady native who now is a teacher in downstate New York.

The book, "Nyasia's Bee-utiful Discovery" is based on Nyasia's real-life experience as a brave African-American and Puerto-Rican girl who has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.  As she accepts her gold medal, something flies toward her which scares her.  Luckily Nyasia gets a little help from a friend.  The question is ... will it be enough to help her conquer her fear?

The book can be purchased at the Open Door Bookstore, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Target, Bookshop.org, eBay as well as from other sellers.  It is also available for checkout on the SCSD Bookmobile.

If you know Nyasia or see her in school, ask her to sign your book and congratulate her on this incredible accomplishment.

Check out the story in the Times Union.
