Leadership Project Press ConferenceUnited States Attorney Grant C. Jaquith joined superintendents, teachers  and students from Schenectady, Troy and Albany school districts, and local, state and federal law enforcement leaders, at Mont Pleasant Middle School Wednesday, to discuss the 2018 LEADership Project as the school year comes to a close.

The LEADership Project, now in its seventh year, is an anti-gang curriculum for 5th grade students that addresses the importance of making the right decisions in middle school and focusing on their futures.

A dozen 5th graders from  Schenectady, Albany and Troy spoke about their experiences with the LEADership project.

Also on hand were members from federal, state and local law enforcement agencies who served as volunteer instructors for the project.  This year,  98 law enforcement officials from 19 agencies volunteered their time in 5th grade classrooms.  They taught in 76 classrooms, reaching more than 1,500 students.
